God Spoke Back

God spoke back to me this week, with a message for anyone who feels like they’ve hit a wall.
And it came in the form of my critique partners and my Bible.
After a few weeks of writer’s block, I reached out to my writing buddies. With dwindling confidence, ideas and patience, it was time to reach out.
My friend emailed me back and described a setback she’d just been hit with. She went on to say this:
The blow hurt, but I moved past by turning back to God. He put this story in my soul. He has directed my path to go after this dream of mine. The funny part was, my Bible study for that day was Hebrews 11 which is all about Faith. I guess that was what I lacked after the blow. Faith in myself which in turn reflects my Faith in God. He is all powerful and can do anything.
I read her email and relaxed my stressed-writer muscles. It was just what I needed to hear. Then I turned to my Bible, intent on finding a particular passage I had in mind. But it fell open on a different page, and something inside nudged me to read it.
It was 2 Corinthians 12, where Paul described his ‘thorn in my flesh’;  a weakness that bothered him so much he cried out to God three times.
In response, God told him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Paul went on to say, “When I am weak, then I am strong.”  (2 Cor 12:9-10 NIV)
For a writer who couldn’t write, those words meant a lot.
Thank-you, God.
